Were any of the Vashon founders ever active in the local Seattle rocket scene, or did you ever meet either of them?

I agree. If it wasn't warm enough Freon didn't perform well.
I bought a Vashon Valkrie 2 in 1970 because of the California engine restrictions.
I still get a little nostalgic when I see them up on Ebay.

Hi Pat,

Not that I remember. During their heyday I was just getting started with rocketry at my elementary school. By the time we became involved with the SSRS crowd (the Medina family, Jim Palmer, et al.) Vashon was no longer an independent company.

Do you know the names of the founders?

The founders were Chuck Green and Alan Forsythe and I believe both lived on Vashon Island. Green passed in 2009, but I believe Forsythe still lives in the Puget Sound area.

After Vashon was sold to Estes the island facility was taken over by the K-2 ski company where they stayed until 2001.
