Grand Towers still stands, and I sometimes think of this when I pass it. My freshman year was pretty eventful. Lennon was killed in December, then an earthquake and the Reagan assassination attempt, then in April we had a bootleg fireworks factory explode in Newport. Thinking that 2020 might edge it out, though.

...and the first shuttle flight not even two weeks after the assassination attempt. Yeah, it was a pretty eventful 4-5 months there at the end of ‘80 and early ‘81.

P.S.- I had to look up Grand Towers. That is a big complex.

My wife and I make occasional SVdP visits to clients in there to deliver food and household goods. It was where my great-grandmother lived at the time and I thought it was the coolest place in the world.
