Thanks Scott. That flight was back in the 90's so..... memory is a bit sketchy, but IIRC it was a bit breezy. I aimed it downwind so it would weathercock back. I do that with my Sky Darts and they end up boosting nearly straight up when I aim them downwind. I thought the instructions mentioned something along those lines and there is an illustration of one angled on a launch pad, it only says, "if there is a breeze blowing, position the Space Shuttle so the orbiter is on the down wind side of the launch rail".
