Old Design -- SM-3
This was a semi-scale version of the Standard Missile used in the February 2008 shoot-down of that decaying satellite over the Pacific. It's a bear to balance, as it takes 1.5 oz of mass at the shoulder of the nose cone to get a safe margin. The model, as presented, is single-stage, and requires a custom-cut balsa transition.
Length: 19.65" Diameter: 1.64" (ST-16) Fin Span: 2.74" Weight: 2.9 oz Launch rod: 48" x 1/4" C6-5......610'......Dv 15 FPS [The only engine recommended!] Enjoy!
