Vintage Estes Sea Strike 'D'
This old rocket's been built for months, but I'm finally getting around to the finish. Following are a few pictures of the Sea Strike 'D' after primer, after painting, and the decals/face card prior to decal application. I made the booster Navy Blue (instead of Black or Gray as the instructions had indicated).

Looks nice.
I always thought that one had a payload section. Appears that it is a phony due to no break in the body tube.

You're right ghrocketman -- no payload section. There is a 4" extension to the sustainer's body tube that is connected by a hollow tube connector -- this section is painted silver.

As Space Bus indicated, there is a break. So you could convert it to a payload section rather easily by adding a bulkhead (and moving the shock cord down one section). The instructions are here (at YORP). You can see that it's pretty straightforward. It's a good looking 2-stager. If I didn't have so many other stagers - my favorite - in the queue already, I'd add this one, too. Doug .

Now the builder just needs to get some vintage D11-9 motors to fly in the upper stage.
Actually this one is a good one to fly on a C11-0 to C11-7 combo. It gets WAY up there on a D12-0 to D12-7 combo. A buddy of mine back in the 80's had one and we almost lost it due to drift even though we were flying on about a square mile. It flies MUCH higher than the Omega on a D-D combo due to being only BT-55 diameter.

I'm considering using a streamer when I fly it on the D-D combo. |

Somebody on this forum I think has a case of them. Don't know if they can mail.
I was supposed to get some at the NARAM in Michigan a few years back but was unable to go. I need some more of those D11-9's too. I'm down to I think two or 3.
