I know those kits were out (Along with the Super Neon XL) but the hobby shop I visited did not have either of those models.

Actually, I haven't (other than what I inferred from changes in their catalogs and comments I've read here on YORF)--thank you for the link.

If they're made like the old ones, the brown kraft paper body tubes sound promising. They seemed to be somewhat harder and stiffer than the white tubes while not being brittle like phenolic tubes.

The were the Photon Disruptor and Photon Probe.

A couple of quick observations:

1) Balsawood nose cones looked good, had 1" shoulders

2) Main body tubes were brown colored paper, not white

It looks like the new Estes products are finally getting released.

Bob

Looks like I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby on Monday.

The Photon Disruptor is the 1992 version and not the 70's version.

Classic-like since many of them are different dimensions, don't have the same kind of cone, or don't have plastic fin cans. Basically they have the same shape, decals and colors.

Yea, but I have noticed over the years when ever Estes does a bring back there are always slight differences from the original. I am ok with that, the good thing is it allows new rocketeers to enjoy some of Estes older designs. The only way to truly enjoy the classics is to open up the wallet and buy some old vintage kits. For me, I will buy these kits and store them, don't know when I will build them since I have so many vintage builds. But I do want to support Estes and there attempt to bring back the classics.
