Good stuff. Manufacture and testing of satellites included.
VANGUARD SATELLITE - 'Science in Space' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFTsGvRPBFY Learned about this: Operation Moonwatch https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Moonwatch Operation Moonwatch (also known as Project Moonwatch and, more simply, as Moonwatch) was an amateur science program formally initiated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) in 1956. The SAO organized Moonwatch as part of the International Geophysical Year (IGY) which was probably the largest single scientific undertaking in history. Its initial goal was to enlist the aid of amateur astronomers and other citizens who would help professional scientists spot the first artificial satellites. Until professionally staffed optical tracking stations came on-line in 1958, this network of amateur scientists and other interested citizens played a critical role in providing crucial information regarding the world's first satellites.

The other day I sat next to a woman who has a profound fear of flying. I wanted to comfort her, so I said, "Don't worry, we're not gonna' crash. Statistically, we got a better chance of being bitten by a shark." Then I showed her the scar on my elbow from a shark attack. I said, "I got this when my plane went down off of Florida." - Dennis Regan |

Slightly sloppy. Shows Beagle crash site image when referring to the Mars Polar Lander. Otherwise very good.
Mars Near Catastrophe Serious injury or loss of life threaten technicians working on the Mars Exploration Rover when a test procedure goes horribly wrong. As the clock ticks toward the critical Mars launch window, NASA scrambles to understand and fix this critical space mistake. If they can't, the launch window closes and the mission will be delayed for two years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvzQ0aY3IWE

Starship Faces Performance Shortfall for Lunar Missions
https://www.americaspace.com/2024/0...lunar-missions/ I do not use the phrase "must read" often, but this one is. John Houbolt was a genius with the Lunar Orbit Rendezvous idea. ULA has an ambitious plan to ?reuse? Vulcan rocket: keep it in space https://www.defenseone.com/business...t-space/395858/ Are they the first to think of this? Rocket Lab to refly reusable Electron boosters rivaling SpaceX, China https://interestingengineering.com/...ectron-boosters Interesting they do not mention Blue Origin recovering New Shepard boosters... The hidden story behind one of SpaceX?s wettest and wildest launches https://arstechnica.com/space/2024/...ldest-launches/ Bill

Still skeptical. Seems too good to be true.
NASA VETERAN?S PROPELLANTLESS PROPULSION DRIVE THAT PHYSICS SAYS SHOULDN?T WORK JUST PRODUCED ENOUGH THRUST TO OVERCOME EARTH?S GRAVITY APRIL 19, 2024 https://thedebrief.org/nasa-veteran...earths-gravity/ "The thing that we worry about are the companies that have appeared out of nowhere after the patent came out and had instant success without the years of rigor and no acknowledgment of our patent," he said. [big snip] Another unusual result from their tests was that sometimes the tested devices did not require a constant input of electrical charge to maintain their thrust. Given that the device already appears to violate the known laws of physics by creating thrust without propellant, this result even stumped Dr. Buhler and his team. "We can see some of these things sit on a scale for days, and if they still have charge in them, they are still producing thrust," he told Ventura. "It's very hard to reconcile, from a scientific point of view because it does seem to violate a lot of energy laws that we have." [snip] Up next, Buhler says his team is seeking funding to test their devices in space to better understand the force at work. "We're hoping to do some demos," said Buhler. "Some space demos. That's what we're trying to get some funding to do. I think that would be a great way to show off the technology." Besides proving once and for all that the force they are seeing is real, the accomplished engineer believes that such tests could encourage other scientists to search for an explanation of what exactly it is they are seeing. [snip] As far as his own thoughts about the nature of the force his team has uncovered, the refreshingly honest NASA veteran demurred, saying only that he believes scientists besides himself are in the perfect position to test and study their results and to come up with the answers. "It's going to take a physicist much smarter than me to come up with all of that," Dr. Buhler quipped.

The fundamental architecture of Artemis, primarily the Starship part, is hugely flawed which is why I said that I suspect Elon of using the new moon race (which is also trashed in that video using a historical background showing WHY there was an Apollo program) to get taxpayer funding to develop the launch vehicle mainly intended for the mass launch of a huge tonnage of (SpaceX) LEO satellites.
