Default SLS Scorpion

Title: SLS Scorpion

Kit number: KV-18

Background Information brief: The Centuri Scorpion Space Probe was introduced in the 1965 Catalog as a member of the Centuri Large Scale Series. It was shipped with 3 Atlas End Burning E impulse engines. It was originally released as Centuri #KF-6 and was shipped via Express since it included engines that could not be shipped Parcel Post. The release price was $6.95 including engines. In 1969 it was offered as a kit only with part # KF-6A for $6.50 and included Parcel Post shipping. The Scorpion was also offered as a special combo with launch system for $15.95.
The SLS Scorpion is updated with precision laser cut basswood fins instead of the hard balsa pre-printed fins used on the original. The original checkerboard Mylar parachute is replaced with a nylon chute. The Sil-Ray cloth fin reinforcement is replaced by a slotted tube and through-the-wall fins. The original Scorpion had a wire shock cord mount which is replaced with Kevlar® cord for greater reliability. A 24 mm engine mount adapter is included to increase the selection of engines that can be used.

Designer: Centuri

Release Date: 10/27/2004

In Production: 2004-2014

Fin patterns, Decal scan thanks Earl!

The SLS Scorpion was my first Semroc build.
Unfortunately the bag and anything else other than the rocket are long gone.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

If you build one and expect to get it back, don't launch with 29mm ANYTHING.
An "E" or larger in that thing is insane. Almost lost mine on a D12.

Sorry, this is the best I can do. Has anyone else had issues with early SLS bags falling
Apart? A couple other kit bags have more or less disintegrated…
Don’t think it’s a problem with any of the smaller kits.
