Balsa Sealer Review
I saw this balsa sealer product at the LHS so I bought a bottle to give a try. It is Balsa Sealer made by Deluxe materials and it is non toxic. It brushes on and can be sanded off in 60min. I personally use Aerogloss balsa sealer and I have not found anything else that competes. Aerogloss goes on smooth and sands easily after 60min. Like most I have tried everything with good to poor results. Anyway, I tried this stuff out and it is pretty good. It is no replacement for my Aerogloss but maybe someone else who is unable to use Aerogloss products could find some use in this product. My first coat was a little sloppy so sanding after 60 min was difficult. The next 3 coats I brushed on smoothly and sanded with no problems. There is no real smell to the product and cleans up with water. Sands just like Aerogloss with no major mess like wood fillers from the hardware store.

The 'no smell' part is a plus for indoor work. Does it 'fill' pretty well in addition to 'sealing'? Looks like from the photos it has a fair amount of solids in the formula.

Based on your review, this stuff sounds like a real possible alternative to AeroGloss. Being water based, I would still be concerned about warpage of fins.

I can see it causing warps if the fins were not glued to the bt. It fills almost as good as Aerogloss balsa sealer. Also 220 grit works great with this stuff while 320 works with Aerogloss. I only did one coat of primer, if I sanded and shot a second coat it would be pretty much be grain free. I only tried it on one rocket but I am impressed. Maybe I will use it on my Novia.

Is that an Alpha?
What is the plane behind it?

I'm willing to try it. Does it come in larger bottles?

Jeffyjeep, I will send you mine to use. I'm sticking with Aerogloss for now but maybe we can pass this sealer around for people to try. I hate to see people spend money based on one try. I can send it out today.
