I hit Hobby Lobby today and actually found a couple of Baby Berthas to get Goony with. That means I'm all ready if the Sky Shriek and Galaxy Guppy scans ever appear. I also picked up one of the new X-15 "kits" (I always wanted one,) and enough 1/8" balsa to do the fins on the Cosmik Debris. (You could serve dinner on these fins.) I plan on butt-gluing the pieces tomorrow, and actually having this little piggy flight ready for the next Quark launch in two+ weeks. I've still got some C5-3s rolling around in my engine box, so I might just take it out to one of the local soccer fields when I get it finished. I'd like to see how it will do with the C5-3 kick and you can't do dat at an NAR launch anymore.

Thanks, Jay. I'll look it over as soon as I can. Question, is that a Goblin fin shape, or a small Der Red Max fin?

Bet on it. Hell, I'll even dedicate the flight to you.

I can't find any of those old scans from my old site. I honestly don't know what happened to them.

On a brighter note, Kevin Trojanowski told me he has all of the Goonies scanned and will get the scans sent over to me.

What? You mean you can't just announce the flight as a "C" engine and get away with it?

Hmm, better change my ways

No, I'd NEVER think of doing something like THAT.

That's wild!

Even looking at the 3D image up on BARCLONE, it's hard to imagine the fins are supposed to be that wide. It is supposed to fly on a C, right?

Are you trying to get a "one-piece" fin with the grain all running in the same direction? I'd like to make a suggestion: Take a 3/8" wide strip of balsa, same thickness, and cap the tip with the grain running fore-aft. This will help reduce the chances of warping, or "cupping", with such large pieces. It's an old model airplane trick; you'd find it used on elevators and rudders of RC models where the non-moving fin is a single large piece of balsa...
