Yes, it's coming back to me now. The press-on adhesive dot was red or orange with the oval Centuri logo printed on it in black.

NO. The early Centuri Sure Shots had the tape assembly with tape tabs built in. The later ones had the Sure Shot Dots.

Review the catalogs and see.

Default Stuff

Baffles
I put baffles in everything , 40 mm and bigger , I even fill my baffles with copper foil. Now I still put nomex sheets on everything , and sometimes I still use dog barf.
One benifit is , it will keep the laundry from sliding down on launch.

Shock cords
I feel its a do your own thing issue , they dont needto be extreeme on smaller stuff , but for MPR HPR , mine average 12 feet. I also sew loops on all of the ends .

Clear coat
I go either way on this , sometimes if its a show piece , yes other wise if its just a beater flyer who cares .

Ignitors
Solar igniters are reliable , fantastic and great , however out of sheer lazyness i will use first fires simply because they have longer leads and wont short out.

I would like to add

"Pointless electronics " it gives me such pleasure and joy to watch someone who has redundant tracking transmitters , GPS transmitters all in there Ebay . And see the rocket land 12 ft from the pad.

Wile this equipment is at times a good idea , but it is situationaly dependant .

ANd lastly
Insanley over powered rockets
Why , just why do you want to ignite somthing , only to see it vanish . I just dont get it

You crack me up, GH. I'm having fun with this (and hope you are, too).

Most of my rockets use a shock cord about 3 times the length as supplied. Never get "estes dents" to the cone or tube either.
Didn't you post a while back that you were gonna start using my shock cord setups?

Seriously, (to all), I always use longer shock cords than usually supplied in the kits. That is, long cures short.

But length does't cure high speed deployment. Something else is needed. That's what this particular sub-topic was railing against

I try to crack people up...
Some people seem to think all of my posts are serious, but in fact many of the more "radical" ones are meant to be humorous...

You are correct about HIGH speed deployments; nothing will reliably cure those, but the longer cords do help a lot if the deployment is a little outside normal deployment speed parameters.

Centuri in their last days of official kit and engine producing existence offered "Sure shot II" igniters, which were nothing more than relabeled Solar igniters.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Make your own. For example, cut a 1/4" long piece of BT-55 to act as a spacer when marking a Quest T-35. If you can buy a spare set, you can glue the ring on and write T-35 on it with a Sharpie.

It just happens that the base of the smaller disc fits a BT-70 perfectly. I need to glue it to something and engrave the six radial lines.

Heh, I still use the door frame trick. Does that make me lame?

No. There's NOTHING wrong with the door jamb method. I just don't have ANY door jambs in my house reliable enough!

Plus, Mary would smack me if I got pencil marks on the door jambs.

That would be fine if this weren't such an old house that all th door frames are rounded from wear an multiple coats of paint!

As for long shock cords - shock cords are for wimps! Just glue the nose cone in and let the body tube blow out at ejection! That should mess up the aerodynamics enough that it probably, maybe, might not come in ballistic. Of course, you can only do this trick once...
