I drew up the instructions for the 3" School Rocket.
Great demo model for a very low price.

I bought two of the FSI Viking I clone of the month kits, and built one. I did the same with the Mini Bomarc, but the unopened kit is nowhere to be found. I have a couple of the pie-plate Invaders left over if anyone wants one. "Flew" one last year, with predictable results.

I don't intend to hijack this thread, but does anyone have a photo or drawing of the BMS 1/16" basswood Rocket Rack #DSRR2B5? I see that they're still available.

Thanks!

I assume the Semroc Invader was a clone of the old Estes kit. The pie plate reference is obvious.

They are copies of the Centuri racks done in 1/16" basswood. Your number is a 5 pack. They will look more or less like the fiberboard ones that Centuri did and SEMROC did later on.

My Astron Invader built in the 60s flew great. Nice lazy circles around the field after ejection. My build of one from my original plans back in the 90s flew a St. Louis Gateway Arch trajectory and shattered. Apparently I was a much better builder when I was 13 years old.

Here is a picture of some of my early builds. The Invader is leaned against the wall, it’s silver and black, with red fins. Like many of my favorite rockets, it got some checkerboards, and it’s name on it from the Estes Letters Decal sheet.

What's different from the regular 3" to the upgraded one?

Thanks.

Best as I can recall, the Viking I clone is the only BMS kit I own.

I fly it a lot! It's a good B6-4 flyer, and I've even flown it with an A8-3.

I have built "fractionally upscale clones" of the Viking II and Viking III to go along with the Viking I.

That is, using the heavy-duty BMS BT-50 tube rather than FSI's old .809" body tube.

In fact, I think I used the BMS foil-lined motor mount tube. Toast-proof!

Not to drag this too far off topic, does anybody know how to navigate BMS website on an iPhone?
