Revised Design -- Thunder PigE
This is a revised version of the 2005 design, which already had a 24mm mount. I lengthened the mount to accept the longer "E" series, and ballasted the nose for stability.
You will need to fly with a full 1 oz of mass inside the plastic NC, as far forward as you can get it. Remember, pigs need lots of snout mass to fly at all... The best of the two Estes "E" engines seems to be the new E12. Although the altitude is a tad lower, so is the Dv. IIRC, this model began as an Estes Fat Boy kit, for at least the NC. Length: 13.17" Diameter: 2.60" (BT-80) Fin Span: 9.80" Weight: 3.32 oz (1 oz ballast) E9-6.......1355'......Dv 15 FPS......Requires 41" of a 48" x 3/16" rod E12-6......1345'......Dv 11 FPS......Requires 33" of a 48" x 3/16" rod Share and Enjoy!

I love the design...nice work! Will you be posting pictures along the way? Possible build thread?

It's not on my list of builds, personally. I've got way too many others to finish, much less a bunch in bags to start, to even think about one. Even if I did build it, I have nowhere locally to fly it safely.

Just add a section of BT?50? with an end cap to the tip of the nose cone! Will look like the snout and a good place to put the ballast!

I think that would do nicely. How can you have a pig without a snout? Sheesh.

The snout of "Pig Bertha" is nothing more than the cap from a lip balm. The ears were cut from the rounded bottom section of a plastic soda bottle - recycling at it's best!
