Ahhhh Alison Krauss and Union Station. Got to meet that young lady back in 1998 when she came to my area. One of her guitar players is from Vermont and his whole family was in the audience. Here is a favorite.

Once again, I REPEAT, the supposed bean-less substance that only maybe 10% of the country would call 'chili', is NOT chili. It is a hot-dog TOPPING.

NO BEANS=NO Chili. I don't care WHAT they do in Texas regarding this. 90% of the Chili's entered in cook-offs outside Texas have beans. A variety of beans in the Chili adds numerous subtleties to the overall flavor and texture. Without the beans the dish does not have enough 'chew' to it.

That doesn't mean either auctioned makes for a good TV program.

I love classic muscle cars and have never owned anything but 'high horsepower' cars; I also find the Barrett-Jackson car auction programs on TV awful.

Just because something CAN be on TV does NOT mean it SHOULD BE.

Just like YORF threads you don't like.....turn the channel. Don't watch it. You have 100 channels to choose from.

I'm not a country music fan, but I live in TN and went to college about 20 minutes from downtown Nashvegas. Pound for pound, they are the best musicians in the world. Many of the session musicians have their own little bands that they play in for fun, and it is often rock or blues instead of country. I've had the pleasure of watching many of them up close and personal. Nothing is perfect, but they slide right to the very edge of perfection and don't even break a sweat doing it. You don't have to like the music, but you have to respect the skills.

Like you, there's lots of music out there I have a hard time respecting, but, even if old Hank sounded like a hick, you gotta respect his writing skills.

I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry

Words and music by Hank Williams

Hear that lonesome whippoorwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome I could cry

I've never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind the clouds
To hide its face and cry

Did you ever see a robin weep
When leaves began to die?
Like me he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome I could cry

The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry

.

Great song. Johnny Rivers did a decent version of it also.

Dead on tbzep, some of the best musicians ever to pick up an instrument.

It's amazing how this thread went from Cattle Auctions on TV to the Relative Merits of Country Music. But I'm happy it did!

Keep in mind that GH needs lots of high fiber, sulfurous material in his diet to maintain his foul smelling exhaust system in good working order, especially with his aversion to corned beef, cabbage and hard boiled eggs.

If you want the trains to run on time you've got to shovel some coal into the boiler.
