Default Paul McCartney to publish 900-page lyrical 'autobiography'

Paul McCartney to publish 900-page lyrical 'autobiography'.

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2...aphy-the-lyrics

I am a huge Beatles fan.
I have seen/heard Paul and Ringo in concert.

Two stories to tell.

1966. Washingtonville, New York.
My father was stationed at Stewart AFB in Newburgh, NY.
My last name is Shea.
The Beatles were to play at Shea Stadium that year.
For several months before the concert, teenage girls would come to the front door asking if they could get concert tickets to the sold out show.
It got so bad that my mom placed a big sign on the front door stating "We have no Beatles tickets" and "Leave us alone!"

2002. Aspen, CO
My first trip out west and I wanted to go to Aspen, CO.
It was summer(early July) so we camped out(and so much cheaper)
Aspen has only one General store.
We went there for supplies and to find out if anything interesting was going on.
There was to me.
An open mic was happening at the St. Regis hotel in town that night.
We go, I sign up and wait. Four hours later it's my turn and there isn't much of a crowd left there. It was 2 O'clock Aspen time.
I was told I could play three songs instead of two.
I played an original song, a John Denver song(big grown from the audience) and The Eagles "Hotel California".
About halfway through the song, people were leaving.
I thought to myself "I must really suck!"
I finished the song and felt dejected.
I go sit at the bar and there are two drinks waiting for me.
The bartender say's "The first one is from him and the second is from Sir Paul Mcartney!"
Sir Paul was on his honeymoon with his second wife and staying at the hotel.
He was walking around the hotel and heard me singing the Eagles tune.
He is a big Eagles fan and liked my version.
I finished my drinks and headed out and was stopped by the guy at the front desk.
He looked at me and said "You must be the Ginger hair man Sir Paul asked about?"
I have "red hair".
Apparently, Sir Paul was the reason I lost the audience, they were chasing after him.
The desk clerk got a call from Sir Paul to buy me a drink on him.
The clerk was thrilled to take his call and passed the message to the bartender.
I would have rather had met him and get an autograph.
I can't make this stuff up!

This part of your story would be a lot better if you said you hooked up with a few of those girls. (Even if you didn't, you could embellish a little.)

Well, better late than never!

I can see now why you didn’t mention your age in your original story, but don’t feel too sad that you started sooooo very late in chasing girls. Why, I knew some guys growing up that didn’t start ‘til they were around six or seven. Yeah, of course we hounded and ridiculed them something terrible, but I think most of ‘em grew up and were properly and rightly married off by no later than 15 or 16.

Back in 1998, my (soon to be) wife and I visited Los Angeles. Before we left, a friend got us tickets to view a taping of The Tonight Show. She got us VIP passes for the taping on June 15. A few days later, she called back to tell us that Ringo Starr was scheduled to be a guest that day.

I am a huge fan of Harry Nilsson who had been Ringo's best friend. We were going to LA partially to meet some other Nilsson fans. The show was being taped on the anniversary of Harry's birth. It seemed too perfect so I asked my friend if we could arrange to give something to Ringo.

She called back to say that we could leave a package, wrapped in clear plastic, with a guard at the NBC gate.

Monday morning, we gathered up some Nilsson-related stuff to put in the package. A friend donated a button that advertised Nilsson's Duit on Mon Dei album. We put the button on top of the stuff in the package along with a note saying, "Dear Ringo. Please wear this button on the show. If you don't, we want it back."

We left to drive to the studio. I missed the Burbank exit and we were late. I illegally parked on the street near the studio and we went to the VIP guest entrance. I didn't have time to drop the package off at security so I gave it to an NBC page and expected it to disappear.

We were seated up high in the studio. When Ringo was introduced, he walked out. On his lapel was our button!

Jay Leno talked with him and Ringo stayed in the guest's chair during the commercial break. My wife stood, waved, and pointed to her chest which got Ringo's attention (he married a Bond girl, you know). Ringo looked our way and realized that we had given him the Nilsson button. He smiled and gave us a thumbs up gesture.

Oh, yeah. I get two stories to share. :-)

I have seen McCartney in concert four times and Ringo live five times (four concerts plus his Tonight Show performance).

In 2005 at the concert in Tampa, McCartney scared us. At the end of a song, he held his guitar up over his head and took a step backwards right into a hole that had opened on the stage. The house lights came on and someone rushed on stage to check on Paul.

After a few minutes, the piano rose up from the hole with McCartney sitting on it. You could tell that he had hurt his arm, but he went on with the show. A few songs later, he changed the lyrics of "I'm Fixing a Hole" to "I fell in a hole ..."

He tells the story a little better himself:
