I'm sure this is true for the most part.....but back in '67 when I started the first model I flew was a Sout on a 1/2A8-2....... I had actually read the Estes catalog where it talks about engine size and field size....and not really having a field (at the time, I sure found one nearby real fast) I launched it the deadend street of our neighborhood...and it came in ballistic about 4 houses down and missed hitting the roof by 1 foot...and stuck it's nose in the ground.
All the neighborhood kids thought it was so cool..... My favs back then was the Scout, Streak and Sprite...... I could launch them in the backyard with a 1/4A and not lose them....

Having worked in a hobby shop in the 1980s and a different hobby shop in the 1990s the most popular/best selling model rocket motor was the C6-5.
Talking to folks working for hobby distributors over the years confirms that information.

Getting a Sprite/Scout/Streak back on a C6-7 would be a better challenge.

When in doubt, WHACK the GAS and DITCH the brake !!! Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't ! Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY. ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC ! |

Actually, the B6-4 and B4-4 have been my most used motors over the last few years.
