Default best selling motor?

Just had a random thought....I wonder if anyone has seen statistics as to rocket motor sales? I'm curious as to which model rocket motor has sold the most? Off the top of my head, I'm guessing the Estes B6-4 but could be wrong. I'm sure that the Estes A8-3 & C6-5 are up there as well (in regards to sales figures). Anyone have any hard data?

(Then again, the fact that they offer bulk packs for the A8-3....maybe that's the leader...)

It seems this has come up before....but I don’t remember the answer.

B6-4s and C6-5s and 1/2A3-4Ts are also currently available in 24-motor bulk packs and there are other bulk packs that include a mix of motor types, notably the “Blast Off Special” that has 6 A8-3s, 6 B6-4s, 6 C6-3s and 6 C6-5s in it.

B6-4 seems like the logical answer. However, a lot of A8-3's have been bought in bulk for school and scout launches. A lot of C6-5's have been bought retail, sometimes where new users promptly watched their models float away, in addition to bulk C6-5 purchases for club launches. That said, the C motors haven't been around as long as A's and B's, and do we include the pre-metric labeling of the motors? This means that someone is going to have to do a good search, or to contact the person that told us last time, because I can't remember.

I don't know for absolutely sure, but in talking with people who should know, the C6-5 is the popular motor. The Hi-Flyer is Estes most popular rocket.

I faintly remember hearing this around NSL 98 that the best selling Estes motor is the C6-5.

Folks not versed in thermals and oversized chutes buy a kit and go over to the motors and pick the biggest ones that will fit in it. Or like me when I mail ordered my Challenger 1 starter set and a pack of C6-5's. Between that and the club launches where fields are big enough to handle them, I can easily see the C6-5 would be the current top seller.

Looking at the 2006-2019 flight history for the Fox Valley Rocketeers, I see these totals:

B6-4 1,077
C6-5 650
A8-3 375

I vote for the B6-4!

B motors are the most popular at MTMA launches too, with B6-4 being the most popular. It's the "go-to" motor in model rocketry.
