Weekend projects
No flying this weekend, so I'm looking to get my spurs into a bunch of stalled projects, in addition to hacking away at my painting backlog. I have a TLP Exocet project that had faltered due to some misplaced paperwork, but that's been located, so things are revving again. I put the first two fins on yesterday and I'm hoping to finish the other six today. Then it's time to get into my balsa stash for the decorative pieces. I'm hoping to fly this one next weekend if the weather gives the cornfield a break.
Yesterday I added more nose weight to the Kormoran downscale I built off of the TLP facecard. I flew it on Saturday, but the result was.........interesting. Things were fine up to the point that it cleared the frame of my phone cam, but then I heard the unmistakable sound of skywriting. I doubled down on the amount of BBs that I previously epoxied into the balsa nose cone. I'd consider doing a swing test, but I can't lift it. I've got another guess-your-best TLP downscale, this one a Maverick that I'm hoping to get finned on my lunch break today. This is a BT-60 bird and will likely be 18mm powered. The paint queue is crowded, an Astron Stinger, Semroc Firefly and Texas Firefly, the Estes 36D Squared, Semroc Cyber III, and another Goblin that Lee supplied the decals for from his Cricut. It'll be all black with yellow decals. It looks great in my mind. It's E powered, so definitely a cornfield bird. Might even swap in a US Rocket streamer.
