Well, looks like the vehicle and ground systems were all good, it was strictly the weather...

While they do have a lot more weather constraints nowadays than they did back when they launched Apollo 12 in a thunderstorm and was struck by lightning twice, back in the "wild west of space" days, they don't have anywhere NEAR the launch weather constraints that were required for the shuttle system... Shuttle had to have clear weather not only at the Cape, but at the Shuttle Landing Facility, the downrange ditch points, the abort landing sites in Spain and North Africa, etc. In addition, shuttle was a much more brittle vehicle that couldn't launch in rain or anything like that due to the risk of TPS damage...

PLUS, Shuttle was just launching into its own orbit for a shakedown cruise... Crew Dragon is actually DOING A REAL MISSION in going to the space station, so of course it has to lift off at a particular time in order to dock with the station, which means the launch windows are VERY small (one second for this attempt) so that REALLY pins things down... can't just "hold and wait" to see if the weather improves... hence the scrub...

Later! OL J R

In addition to streaming, it was on cable. Discovery and the Science channels both broadcast the same show. It was pretty horrible, basically a multi hour advertisement/propaganda show.

C-SPAN2 had a very nice feed that was probably the same thing that was streamed online. White room footage, ingress and egress, etc was shown. A lot of decent information that we already know, but the general public doesn't was put out for us. I will have it on C-SPAN2 Saturday or I will stream, whichever is most convenient. I won't have it on Disc/Sci channels.

I know some guys who could pack you into a steam-powered rocket and get you 10,000 HP and 400+ mph.

...And 8 G's on your body for the first 1/20 of a second after you push the "Launch" button.

Unfortunately, it has a price tag of about $1.6 million...

(mock innocent look)

Do I have to throw the parachute out myself? I'm a little brittle to try lawn-darting at this point.

I felt the same way about the Discovery show. I had the stream from SpaceX running on my laptop which is what I focused on with the sound off on the TV. I'll have to check out C-SPAN2 on Saturday. If it's the same feed as SpaceX I'll just watch on the big screen.

We had three pull handles (red, white, and blue. Go figure...). The first was for the main chute, the second for the secondary chute, and the third for the emergency chute.

We even used a garage door remote control in case the pilot passed out from extreme Gs.

Now, if you were BASE jumping from the Perrine Bridge just north of town (and in sight of Evel Knievel's *original* jump site), then yeah, you'd have to throw out the drogue chute with your own hand. Otherwise, it's four seconds to the water.

Just open it, that's all.

"Open. Open. OPEN!"

Nope, Hollywood stuntman Eddie Braun's successful completion of EK's dream on September 16, 2016.

It was possible, and Eddie pulled it off with grace and humility.

The three-day delay in the mission has allowed time to add another member to the crew! Wow, I didn't think the Administrator would be so willing to add me on such short notice, but what the heck...I'm goin'!!!

Ok, actually, this is what you get when you have a very special lady in your life who also likes spacey stuff...and who is a very good artist and Photoshop savvy.
