Default Rocket Development Corporation 61A Static Test Stand

The photo of Irv Wait with his 61A static test stand in the '65 Handbook of Model Rocketry, was the inspiration for my current project. There's not much info available for RDC's test stands. The 61A was offered in the early 60's (there is ad in the '63 Coaster catalog) and the 62A was offered through the RDC 66-68 catalogs.
Scaling the plans from the photo was a bit challenging. I used 16 gauge aluminum, 12 VDC motor, off the shelf springs and hardware. Irv Wait photo credit: GH Stine Handbook of Model Rocketry 1965. Thanks to PhoenixGuy for the Coaster Catalog thread. I also have a build thread on The Centuri Take II page.

Well, that's pretty dang neat! Gosh, I wonder if ANY of the original units exist anywhere?

Thanks! I don't know, probably a hidden treasure in someone's attic.

Yes, It works remarkably well, I will need to get stiffer springs for larger motors.

Yes, agreed, very nice indeed! What's your calibration procedure?

Thanks, I haven't done a lot as far as calibration, other than determining the drum speed (which gives me the burn time). I haven't calibrated the springs yet, i need to go with some a bit stiffer.
