Default Need help restoring the Estes Reliant #1986

Hey all. I am looking for decal scans of the model mentioned but it has to be the second issue/edition pictured here:

http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/no...a/93est016.html

JimZ has plans and scans of the original (pre-1993) but I prefer this one in the Estes catalog (also picutred below)

Scans of the original decal set would be great but I realize that is a long shot.

Maybe if I could get some decent pics, Gordon at Excelsior could make some up.

Please post if you can help!!

Hi;

I offer a scan of the original decal below, including a scaling bar. The original was/is a self-adhesive appliqué, which accounts for the dashed cutting outlines one sees around the markings on the sheet. Should Gordon choose to create a waterslide version, he might wish to do away with the dashed lines.

My original scan is TIF format, too large to post here, but Gordon may wish to have this as well.

Hope this helps;

Perfect!! Thank you John! Exactly what I was looking for. I'm betting Gordon can make a great set out of these.

Gotta say I wasn't expecting much luck with this. I will post some pics when I make some progress on it. Thanks again!

I have it and it's all finished.

Thanks John!

Unfortunately it's late and I'm goin' to bed.

I'll deal with it in the morning...g'nite.

OK, the decal is finished for the Reliant but... It's kinda small and I hate wasting valuable blank decal paper so...

I put both the old (pre 1993) and new decal set across the page.

My web server seems to be having some sort of issue lately. I can add stuff to my web site but not pictures.

So here it is for now.

I kinda like the roll pattern from the old one.

You really need to keep that logo on more of the sheets. I apply them to any model using your decals that has them on the sheet and always receive some recognition of the product from the buyer.

Hey all, thought I post some updated pics of my Reliant rebuild. Starting to look much better. Unfortunately the weather isn't going to cooperate for a while so the painting is going to get put on the back burner. Probably till spring now.

Not sure why I even spent the time on this. guess I'm a sucker for the lost causes.

Fins are now basswood. I love the way they fill...

Would it help to have the decals directly from a kit? I probably have one or two Reliants buried somewhere.

No need! I already got a set from Gordon. And they look fantastic! But thank-you anyway.

Unfortunately I'm thinking the weather isn't going to hold anymore and I will have to wait till spring to finish painting it. The wife gets all freaked when I paint in the basement. A little paint dust on the furniture isn't that big a deal silly woman.
