Default Lil' Hercules

Title: Lil' Hercules

Kit number:KV-14

Background Information brief: The Lil’ Hercules was released first in 1965 as a rocket to use the Series III (“Shorty”) model rocket engines. These engines were one inch shorter than the standard engines, but had the same diameter. The original Lil’ Hercules was about an inch shorter than the Lil’ Hercules II that was released as a replacement when the Short engines were dropped. Small weights were added to the fin tips to make it tumble recovery instead of featherweight recovery. The original balsa nose cone was replaced with a plastic version. Lil’ Hercules was Centuri #KA-1 and sold for just 85¢ in 1965.
The @ Lil’ Hercules is updated by using laser-cut fins. The original balsa nose cone and body tube are still used. Since the Shorty engines are still not available, the @ Lil’ Hercules is a hybrid between the original and the later plastic model using current model rocket engines.

Designer: Centuri

Release Date: 08/01/2003

In Production: 2003-2014

After Carl restarted Semroc, he and and his son Bruce manned a booth at NARAM 45 in August 2003 and had four kits for sale, and a lot of coming soon facecards on display. It took some digging but I finally found an email from Carl posted by Scott Hansen in the Oldrockets Yahoo group where Carl IDed the four kits offered at NARAM. These were Semroc’s initial releases from the relaunched company:

Now we have names and a date (8/1/2003) for those NARAM rockets:
1968 Triton
1965 Lil' Hercules
1963 Sky Hook
1963 Micron

This THREAD shows pictures the four kits made to be sold at NARAM, the Instructions of the four Kits are dated July 29, 2003, and the kits has a few differences from the kits issued for general purchase in Oct. 2003.

It was much later in 2003 before the website was running and any others were released.
