Default Shrox Der Rammstein

An old project. 10+ years lingering in the shop. Mostly complete, just need to come up with some kind of rear ejection set up.

Here is my first attempt....

Hopefully this plug will stay in place during flight and eject when needed.

Thinking I might paint it blaze orange.....or flat black...what do you think?

Cool build.
Never heard of this one.
Has a real F-104 Starfighter flavor to it.

The flat black makes it disappear....

This is where I ended up. Should work....fingers crossed. It passes the shake test. Nothing falls out when you shake it.

There’s a Brillo pad baffle at the top of the motor tube. Shouldn’t need any extra wadding.

Most of the rockets on the wall are flight ready now. My other boxes of low power rockets may get some attention now....

That looks great.

See, we wouldn’t steer you wrong on going with the flat black.

That is a nice design. My build commitments should open up in a couple years — must consider. However, I still have two Shrox Plan Paks that haven’t been started ...

Hmm, I hadn't thought of double-stacking some of the smaller rockets onto my pegboard like that. Good idea.

Lovely collection. And boy, the fins on the Praetor really are ginormous.

The Upscale Praetor was a fun build, and yes....the fins are ginormous.

I used a carbon fiber / kevlar honeycomb sheet to make the fins. The edges are framed in basswood. I still have some of the composite scrap material....I'll see if I can find it and post a pic. Lightweight and super strong. You can hear them whistle when the motor burns out....too cool.

I've actually thought of doing a 4" upscale Praetor. That would put the fin "span" at 36" if I remember correctly....maybe more. I'll have to think of a clever way to break it down because with fins that long I'd never be able to transport it easily.
