3/5/22: Beautiful launch day in Waipahu, HI
Launched this morning with three friends at a local park.
Sunny and calm winds, perhaps 7-8 mph. Had a great time! Personal launch report: 1. Estes Luna Bug, 1/4A3-3T. Even with the small engine I lost sight of it at ejection. But someone saw it in the grass behind us. Fluorescent paint really helps with these tiny ones. 2. Estes Star Hopper, A3-4T. Easy ten minute build. Straight nominal flight, streamer recovery and no landing damage. Tough little plastic cookie. 3. Modelrockets.us Boostoh/Super Tooboh, B6-0/B6-6. This went the highest and had the longest flight time. Estimated at over 1000 ft. It drifted near the trees ringing the park perimeter but landed just inside the park behind a baseball back stop. Whew. 4. ASP 24mm Corporal, C11-3. Nice straight ascent, nice straight descent. i.e. ballistic. The ejection charge never went off. The nose cone was so far embedded and I had no tool so I just left the nose cone there. Airframe was crumpled, but repairable. She will fly again! (MESS report will be filed). 5. Estes Red Flare, C11-3. Another E2X, this one is a good flyer. Recommended minimum motor is a D12-5, but the ejection happened right at apogee, maybe 200 ft. Perfect for our small field. 6. Estes Mega Mosquito, C11-3. Another straight good flight, ejection near apogee. No damage upon recovery. Last pic is Ron K. prepping his NCR Bounty Hunter on an F67 motor. I really like that motor. Nominal flight and recovery. Full videos in a couple of days here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq...JAPQDHAbguwPUkw Laters.
