Default Rocketry field log

So, several years ago someone gifted my wife a journal that was made from an old physics textbook. (She taught physics classes when she was a grad student.) I have to look up things (like how to spell physics,) so that wouldn't have been a good fit for me, but I was always intrigued by the idea of recycling an old hardback book into a journal. Back in the summer I happened to run across her journal and began thinking of books that I'd like to have made into a journal for myself. My first thought was an old copy of The Handbook of Model Rocketry. Several years ago I picked up a couple of copies for $.01 plus postage, so I figured they were cheap and plentiful. Nope. Turns out they're going for many times what I paid for them and in no way a candidate for journal making. I kinda pushed the idea aside, but a few months back I found a copy of a kids book called ROCKETS INTO SPACE on the cheap and decided it would make a perfect victim for the experiment. Some might joke that a more appropriate title for me would be ROCKETS INTO THE CORNFIELD, but as far as I know that book hasn't been written yet. Anyway, it was waiting for me when I got home today. Great turnaround, because I only sent it off a week ago. Thought you all might like to have a look-see. Hopefully Douglas Leithauser will forgive me.

But you will be writing that book every time you make an entry into the field log, with a few asides for pavement and trees when you are at the B6-4 field.

Our golden retriever loved goose poop. Sophisticated perhaps? Maybe he thought he was eating pate…
Nah … he was just a typical dog.
