Default Nike Zeus

Any idea where I can get a Nike Zeus kit? The bigger the better.

None presently exist in production now.
The only one that I know of that EVER existed was the plastic Cox 2-stage kit that was only available for a short time in the 1970's....these command HUGE prices on Ebay, but can regularly be found, NIB. The Cox kit was based on the second version of the Nike-Zeus, not the original version. It looks a lot like the Nike-X, that was to replace the Nike Zeus before it's funding was cut. The kit is semi-scale at best.
The only way to get a decent looking Nike-Zeus is to scratch-build one.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

That's one's apparently 1/24th scale.

*This* one's slightly bigger (1/4th scale):

Mighty impressive model.

The rocket review article makes no mention of who/what/ or where he obtained his scale data from.

Was it the NARTS Booklet FOURTEEN US ARMY MISSILES OF THE COLD WAR????

Was it personally measured from the display round at the US SPACE & ROCKET CENTER in Huntsville, AL.?

If the Nike-Zeus is related to the Nike-X:

http://www.dars.org/jimz/est1270.htm

...You might get close by trying this 3x24mm kit:

http://www.rocketreviews.com/review...ta_mike_ix.html

Or maybe this one (performance was wimpy on just one 24mm motor):

http://www.rocketreviews.com/review.../qm_nike-x.html

I'll offer my usual disclaimer that I'm not a scale guy, but maybe one of the kits above (Thrustline?) may be "almost as good," or at least a good starting point for a kitbash. --You'll have to decide.

Cheers,

Michael Wilkins, the builder, was in DARS at the time he flew it. Next time I see him, I'll ask. But another DARS member stated that Michael had upscaled an Estes kit, IIRC. (I know that contradicts the statements earlier in this thread, but I'm just the messenger

I've seen the ones on display in Huntsville. I was quite surprised to learn the series was developed as ABM's.

BTW, Michael built the pad, too. It's way kewl.

No kidding!

I don't sell any kits I have but in this particular case the offer was just too tempting. No one would beleive me what I got for it. It has found a good home, for sure.

Exclamation Try This One

www.ed-thelen.org

Select topics from the menu....You will find more information about the Nike Ajax and Hercules Missile Systems than you could imagine. This web site was started some years ago by an ex-Nike veteran.

In fact, this web site is quoted by several other web sites as THE reference for Nike missiles.

Drawings, pictures, schematics of Nike Missile batteries, RADAR, missile and associated equipment.

If you really want to know about Nike systems in depth, this is the place!
