Last Friday I decided to make my 1/2A PD flights for the Virtual NARAM.

With all the 'approved' rocket flying sites in SoCal closed due to COVID-19 the only place I could think of was my old elementary school located half a mile from where I live.

It's not a very good flying site. Surrounded on two sides by trees one-hundred feet tall, the fenced off school and a moderately busy street on the fourth side.

Any sort of performance model would surely be lost.

I looked at shelf of selected models I had put out for display in my room. One of them was the second Semroc kit I built, the Javelin (Centuri clone).

It even had my NAR # already written in pen on the side.

That sealed the deal.

With my Father as LCO the Javelin had two qualifying flights on Estes 1/2A6-2 motors.

Not competitive but recovered.

Thanks Carl (And Sheryl and Bruce) for everything. Your legacy continues.

Bob-

I'm sure you already know this, but you already are a 'winner', what with having your Dad on hand for a flight session. That alone had to be special. I am thankful my Dad is still around, but he is in another city and it has been over 40 years since he was at any of my rocket launches. But, he was one of four, including me, that was at my first.

Hope you can have more opportunities to do that!

Earl

+1 to what Earl said ... having your Father there as LCO for your flight session is very special

I took a look and could not find any SEMROC boxes with that logo in my "collection" I have a couple of the brown boxes. May have used a few to reship kits to others.

Always seemed to get those orders ASAP thanks to Sheryl's hard work and Carl and Bruce keeping up the stocks. I got to see their operation many years ago. Pretty amazing what they accomplished.

Roy I think I may have had some with that logo. Your postmark date is March 2005 and I joined YORF in June 2005 and thanks to this forum I came to discover SEMROC and immediately started buying SLS kits and thick walled tubing & parts to clone EnerJet kits from them. I can’t say for sure if I had any boxes with the logo like that unless that’s the only boxes that SEMROC used to ship orders that year as I too reused mine to ship auction items to others or just tossed them when I ran out of room. I’m kind of amazed that after all the SEMROC boxes that landed on my porch in all those years that I don’t have a single box left and almost all my parts and unbuilt kits have been transferred into plastic bins.

I do know that logo on your box would make for a really cool fin decal for my finished SEMROC kits
