Default Lady Hawk, Hawks Hobbies

I have some sad news tonight.

Loretta Hawkins has given me permission to update you all on her condition: she is at home with her family and has a very short time to live. She has rapidly advancing lung cancer, and metastatic disease is throughout her brain, liver, and elsewhere. Diagnosed just ten months ago, the usual steps have helped but no longer are effective. Many surgeries later, hospice is in charge now.

She and her husband, Mark, live in the Houston area with their boys, and have a business many of you know as Hawks Hobbies. The business has had to take a back seat, of course for the time being. I have several of their wonderful kits, my Super Orbital Transport being one of my absolute favorites.

She wants everyone to know, for your prayers are needed now more than ever. The Rocket Community has been a real blessing in their lives, and she loves and appreciates all of you.

Also, she wanted me to tell you, she's throwing a bash in around 3 weeks to celebrate her marriage to Mark for 25 years, Hawks Hobbies, her birthday, and her life.

I knew you would want to know.

Allen

Sorry to hear this. I was just wondering how she was doing the other day and figured no news was good news. I met her at NSL in 2007. Nice lady. I got a personal tour of the product line, which was a bit out of my reach at the time, and saw the Bomarc prototype fly a St. Louis arch flight profile. Party on, Loretta.

Loretta, my wife and I considered you one of the highlights of every NARAM where we met you.

You were always a big old ray of sunshine.

We are so sorry to hear this and our prayers are with you always.

Loretta is a very special woman. When we first started competing she went way out of her way to make my daughter feel special and welcomed.

Our prayers are with Loretta, Mark and the kids.

Very sorry to hear this... I've met Mark and Loretta before; they've flown out here at Needville a time or two, but it's been a good while back... Dave Montgomery, our club NAR Advisor, knows them much better than I, but he introduced us...

Very sorry to hear this, and wishing for all the best...
Later! OL JR

Allen\Jetlag,

Thanks for letting us know. We may seem a little dysfunctional at times, but all of us here are family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.

So sorry to hear this news. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the entire family. We have shared some good times together over the last eight years (sure does not seem that long.) Hawks Hobbies AND Lady Hawk have made a lasting impact on our hobby.

Oh No !
My mother went through that fifteen years ago.
It also progressed to the liver and brain in a most insidious and sneaky manner.

I would never want anyone to go through what that disease does.

I wish Lady Hawk (Loretta) and family my sincerest condolences and hope her days are with no suffering.

My thoughts and prayers are with her and the family.
