Ya know, it is kind of easy to not think too much of the application of this material to those F1 engines. But, I recall the first time I saw images of this thermal protection material and how well it was applied to the many and various parts and angles, I concluded it is actually a fairly complex array of cuts, fasteners, and material applications to properly cover those engines.

Wonder what those batts looked like post-flight before it/they plunged into the Atlantic?
