To compete with these new sources of broadband, my Spectrum internet was just upgraded without raising the price. I was on the 200/10 package, and it is now 300/10. I'm getting considerably more than that, though.

Spectrum over-provisions by about 20% so that looks legit.

Default Starlink

Talk about timing. My old provider Viasat network crashed on the 13th of NOV 2022.

Called and talked with a rep, he said no credit would be provided as it was weather caused network outage. Biggest news was he didn't know when it would get fixed.

Two weeks still no internet.

Checked Starlink was taking deposits.

Then the following Monday was at the local wateringhole and the bar tender said he had a notice his Starlink would be in town on Friday.

Signed up and ordered a system. It arrived on the 14th of Dec. A whole month without service with old provider.

Works better than the old, and mine says obstructions are causing issues, still better internet than before.

Lots of snow on roof, don't plan to mount the antenna up there until I clear some of the ice/snow off. So it is running on the ground with a bunch of trees blocking the signal, but is is working great!

Like that is shows download /upload speed. Power of signal in each room in home. Wished it was easier to log and change the settings (having issues with my login) so that I can turn on the snow pre-heat, automatic doesn't work so well.

I've wondered actually how much snow would trigger the need to do the preheat thing. It's snowing outside right now, but it's not heavy and isn't expected to be really. So far we haven't needed to turn on the pre-heat, but then, the Seattle area isn't exactly known for its heavy snows.....

Default Ice Storm

When it first arrived I went up on the roof to get the best reception. It was snowing or really could be called ice chips from the sky. It was fast and heavy enough the Auto setting was only turning it into slush. Up and down the ladder to keep wiping it off. Finally gave up and collected everything to try the next day.

It was clear and worked great from the ground. Getting mounts for the roof.
