Mary and I send our deepest condolences. I never met John and spoke to him only recently but I know he was class act. Are flowers and/or donations being accepted and to where do we send them? Are there outstanding medical expenses?

Buzz,
Please relay to the family how much John meant to our entire community. He has taught me so much over the years. The whole country owes him a huge debt of gratitude for his expertise in preserving many of our truly historic rockets. John was absolutely unique and brilliant. He will truly be missed. Please, do not send flowers. And there is no need for donations to medical fund. His medical expenses are not defaulting to anyone else. The money that was left in his medical donation fund is going to the NAR for the Internats team. He loved spacemodeling at the international level.

RIP John, I'll never forget the times we spent hours at your house in South Houston in the 1970's when I came to spend the weekend with you, and the hours & hours at your home in Northwest Houston a few years ago. You were like a brother to me. You will not be forgotten, ever. Your legacy in the model rocketry world and even NASA will endure forever.

Really, really saddened to see this news this morning. What a talent John was in this hobby and a rare fount of information on a number of scale rocketry projects. I met him only once, briefly, at NARAM-30 in Huntsville, AL back in '88.
Your earthly struggles are now concluded John. May you experience views and life in a way that we who remain behind cannot comprehend! Sincerest condolences to his family and friends. Earl

John was a giant both in physical presence and knowledge. His thoughtful communications and the way he unselfishly shared his vast depth of expertise made him a unique treasure. I will always remember the captivating Saturn V walk-around tour he gave to a rapt audience in Houston in 2018. People like him are simply irreplaceable and I feel his loss keenly. Condolences to his family and legions of friends everywhere.
I hope the NAR gives serious consideration to naming the NARAM scale competition award in his memory.
