A VERY Sad Day -- RIP Dawn Wells
The title pretty much says it all....
One of the saddest days of 'nostalgia' TV for me, certainly. I know she was liked and loved by many. Covid-19 complications. I tell ya, this d.a.m.n. virus!!! Story link: https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/30/ente...obit/index.html Earl

She was always my favorite (female) castaway!
Peaceful rest to you, Ms. Wells

Yes, she certainly was a cutie no doubt, and from all I have read about her, she was as beautiful inside as out. Really, really hate to see her leave us. That leaves only Tina Louise as the last of the cast. Ironic that she would be the last, as she really wanted little to do with show after it left the air in '67. But Dawn was my first (well, only really) TV star 'crush' way, way back when the show first went into re-runs in about '68 on Ted Turner's 'original' incarnation of what would become his 'Superstation' in the Atlanta area (I am an Atlanta native and remember when his station first started...I think it was Channel 17 then). I was about six then and a friend and I would watch it in the afternoons. Every time Dawn would be in a scene we would giggle and roll around on the floor in front of the TV. Earl

She was a beauty. She played a Kansas farm girl, but she was royalty...Miss Nevada in the late 50's or early 60's. BTW, it when it became the "Superstation" it still broadcast as Ch 17 for a while. I don't think it became WTBS until the very end of the 70's, though. I vaguely remember different call letters and a big advertising push when it switched to WTBS. I watched the loveable loser Braves on that station for years. Ruffie Linares (a nearly career minor leaguer) caught a game winning or game saving ball one night in the early 80's. In his post game interview when they asked about it he said, “I see ball. I run for ball. I dive for ball. I look in front of me. No ball. I look behind me. No ball. I look in glove. Ball. I say: Rufino, you one lucky guy.” An earlier postgame interview not long after he came up to the majors... "I dunno, but I can rons, I can heets, and I can catch de bol." (same answer for two or three questions in a row!) He instantly became my favorite player!

Yes, she was Miss Nevada in 1959. Didn’t win, but obviously more well remembered today that whoever did win.
And, oh, the ‘Cellar Dweller’ Braves of the 70s and 80s! Watched many a game on the Superstation back in those days. Both grandfathers (who lived in North Georgia) were long-time fans, too. Watched many games with them both when at their respective homes when we went for visits. Both passed six weeks apart in very early 1991...and eight months later the Braves went to the first of about five World Series appearances in the 90s. Glad they made it so many times but begrudged their ‘timing’, as two of their biggest fans JUST missed seeing them go to the Big Show. Superstation original call letters were WTCG. I think it went to WTBS in the late 70s. Earl

Gladys may have been banned from the island after Gilligan awarded her the title of "Miss Castaway", since Gladys was the only true native of the island and therefore was the only one truly eligible to enter the beauty contest. (Now we have got everyone and their brother wondering who the heck 'Gladys' is!! The story line mentioned just now should pretty much give it away though). Earl

All of you posing these questions must be a lot older than me ... I don’t remember those details of the show!
Oh wait, maybe I don’t remember, because I watched Gilligan’s Island “live”. Most of you probably watched reruns many years later ...

One of my (now even more) treasured momentos. From about 15 years ago.
