I think it only glided for two reasons: 1 the extra thrust of the composite motor gave it extra speed and the extra delay time gave it the opportunity. But if it could be converted to glide that would be very cool, maybe eject the motor pod and extend flaps/ spoilers of some type?

Most ANVILS fly better than the Enterprise model.
Real clunker with any 18mm Estes motor. A Cox D8-3 would probably work, but I'd never waste one of those rare motors from 1971 on it.
