I thought that I had bought an Astron Sprint clone from PDR, but I'm not 100% certain that it was from them. I remember buying the kit off eBay and ordering a set of laser-cut fins for it from Carl at Semroc, I haven't been able to locate it yet to confirm or deny. I still have a couple of boxes of unbuilt kits left to search, though.

I did find a few kits that I have absolutely no recollection of buying, like a Black Brant III from Inflight Rockets, plus I bunch that I had forgotten about until I unearthed them.

I can relate!!!

I will take one of each! (except that Russian Vostok. I built that turd of a kit once and that was enough for me)

Gotta admit, that was on my list to buy eventually. I've always been curious as to the Estes kit. It disappeared from the catalogs a year or two before I came around.
It must have really been a tough sell, because it only appeared in the 1975 and 1976 catalogs. A buddy gave me a copy of the 1976 catalog, which was where I saw it. Back then I bought at JC Penney Toyland and KB Toy and Hobby. Never saw one in either place, but it was 1977 by then.

When we hosted NARCON 2007 (Rochester, Minnesota), PDRocketry attended as a vendor. I bought four kits from them (Orion Starfighter / Torellian Invader, Scorpius, Star Rider, U.S.S. Hyperion) - none of which I've ever gotten around to building. They donated several kits for the door prize drawings.

Here are a few pics from that event.

The Estes and PDR Russian Vostok was a real TURD of a kit. Anything that only has "profile" parts (instead of real pods) is ALWAYS a TURD in my book.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Yeah, nice ones, too. Quite a few cool kits that no one ever expected to see again. The whole thing came to a bad end.

Either I don't remember or never knew. What do you mean by came to a bad end?

The classic story. Took the money and disappeared with it. Left a lot of people holding the bag.

it was a father/son kitchen table operation. One of the two got sick (assume the father) and proper business practices went out the window. Or something like that.
