Default Not something you see every launch

Pete Bricker showed up to the pad with this Estes Pershing on Saturday. I overheard a conversation on the flight line and heard him say that he found it at a flea market.
Chew on that one for a little while.😳

Unreal.
I don't go to flea markets or garage sales anymore.
After seeing only junk/trash for over 40 years, I stopped wasting my time.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

No, I have friends who are really into it, but it's not my thing. I'd tell The One They Call The Conehead to be on the lookout for stuff like this, but he's a flip phone kind of guy and rarely bothers to take it with him. He hits them all, flea markets, estate sales, garage sales, etc.

Just based on the conversations I heard, it was boxed. I heard him mentioning some issues with the decals. It was the first one I'd ever seen, so it was a shock. It's a big kit. Man, I'd love to see it reissued.

Mine was a little underpowered and squirrelly on a D12-3. It was soon retired to be a hanger queen. I'd love to see a re-issue too so I could have one that I wouldn't worry about crashing.

There is a thread on TRF where someone posted nice 3d print files for the cone, conduits/straps and fins and a few folks have built nice new bt-101 versions with them. These should not be hard to get stable with their oversized fins especially using E20's or E-30's at the same weight as the original kit, should fly nice.

I received a partially-built basket case Pershing as a surprise gift from Steve Kristal a couple of years ago, and managed to rehabilitate it into a very nice shelf queen. I can't imagine ever flying it, and didn't even put lugs or rail buttons on the beastie.

If a call is ever made to refresh the models in the NAR exhibit at the Museum of Flight it will probably get donated.

It has been established that this flew on an E20W.

That's a good one for the model. I was thinking about old single use motors I used to buy before going EX. The E15W had decent smoke and fire for scale realism, the E30 had good kick for scale speed realism. The E20 is a good compromise.

This is one time I would agree when GH would recommend some sledgehammer motor. They jumped off the launchers pretty quick. Saturns still need to lumber off the pad, though.
