I have been specifically collecting starter sets from the 60/70s. I have recently turned up 7, including the first year Alpha set. If you need help here, please let me know. There are more I haven’t photographed yet. Dan.

Thanks, those are great. Can you tell us the catalog number that goes with each pic (should be KS-2, KS-7 etc stamped on the side). Does the orange pad model have an orange controller? That is likely the set I got as a kid.

The Athena X Starter Set is new, and Estes started shipping it to hobby distributors recently. By the way, the stock number is 5304.

Hi, yes I’ll be glad to. Please bear with me, might take a few days. While I’m disabled, my wife just beat cancer, but has some protocol radiation left to do. I’ll be back. Thanks…….

Using the Athena name/logo on this RTF blob-of-plastic thing is blasphemy in regards to the ultra-supreme ENERJET Athena.
What an ABSURD INSULT to that former great kit.

Kit names should not be rehashed unless applied to a BETTER kit, not some designed-for-profit alone beginner slag-heap contraption that should have been named TURDAQ.

Rockets included in this set should have the largest physically possible motors jammed in them, then fire-and-forget. A SU 24mm F32T should doo nicely in each.

I’m curious, was this a special outfit to you ? I’m not finding it in Estes' part number search. What up with this outfit. The Xtreme looks cool. Again, please bear with me,, I’m a bit slower these days……

It has copyright of 2017, so it’s been around 5 years at least…..

I missed this question. These pics were already on my iPad. I haven’t dug them out yet. The Orange Porta pad one has the older oval, hand controller, the 60s type. It’s either black or red, I haven’t looked. But I do have the mid 70s Orange, square one sealed in a kit, too. The Yellow pad is the Early 70s one, which is much harder to find

I'm fortunate to have my original yellow pad, in the original box, but sadly, don't have the black controller it came with.
