Default Q-Jet Production Being Upgraded to Include the New Q-Pic™ Initiator Holder

We are in the process of upgrading our Q-Jet™ motor retail packages to include a NEW initiator holder...the "Q-Pic™"! The first Q-Pics to be produced will fit all 18mm Q-Jets from 'A' to 'D' size. A larger version of the Q-Pic is being designed to fit the 24mm Q-Jets. The colors of the two Q-Pics will be different to allow for easy identification. Q-Pics will be sold in a 6-pack for those customers who would like to use them in previously-manufactured Q-Jets, or with other composite propellant motors with small nozzles. More information will be released in the near future.

A much needed change! Those little chunks of tubing included with the current QJs are a pain in the keester!

Gary,

That's great. Even though I generally can use the heat shrink tubing you've been including, that little tapered plastic bit looks to be a better solution....and one that will work on all 18mm Q-Jets rather than needing three sizes of tubing.

Thanks!

Are the picks reusable?

I would like to see them molded in a bright color so you can see them in the grass, for easy clean-up.

The bright color is a great idea. We clean launch area after each launch day and any help hunting thru the grass for igniters and plugs is appreciated.

And make them sterile.

Estes igniter plugs seem to reproduce like rabbits...

I believe they are reusable and the Q-Pics for the 18mm motors will be bright yellow. The Q-Pics for the 24mm motors will be slightly larger and a different color, either orange or red.

This is a welcome improvement, and should be much easier to use than the rubber tubes. Yes, bright colors please!

Thanks for continuing to improve these motors.

Speaking of improvements, is there any consideration for a higher thrust B motor? Even the new B6 Q-Jet doesn't have enough thrust for good B Egg Loft flights.

That’s a possibility with Blue Thunder.
