Lead Nose Weights
I had some clear tubing for BT-20, so thought that I would clone an Estes Apogee II. Have all the parts except for the two NW-1 lead Nose Weights. I can use washers, but was curious if anyone had found ways to duplicate them. Thanks
Chas

Chas,
No need to duplicate when you can use originals. Do you just need two? These have been waiting for a rocket a LONG time! I can sense their happiness. Text me your address. Steve |

Wow, I have had three offers to send the weights. I appreciate the responses. Thought that these would be rare. I have a few collectable Estes carded parts as well as Centuri and MPC.
Thanks folks. Chas

Happy to hear you found the weights you needed, Chas. Here's a question for all. I thought that Carl was making replica NCW-1's for awhile. Am I correct or was it a dream?

Scott, I seem to recall that Carl offered lead weights through SEMROC. I checked eRockets.biz first thing, but they have washers and clay.

I believe you are correct.I'm not sure that they were actually lead but they were the appropriate diameter and weight https://modelrocketbuilding.blogspo...rt-1-parts.html Found this.

For others that might want disks, you have the option of punching them out from lead sheet. It punches pretty easily. Sheets can be purchased online, but shipping would probably kill you. If you have a good local hardware/lumber store, a 1/16" x 1' x 1' sheet would probably be about $20-$25.

I've made them by flattening lead musket balls and then drilling a hole in the center.
The .440 caliber size works well. A box of 100 costs about $15. |

Carl did previously offer lead disc nose weights like the old Estes ones.
He discontinued them during his ownership though and replaced them with gold anodized washers made of some dense metal.
