That's what the cert data shows, too. I've some Q-Jet B4-4 flights with an AltimeterThree aboard that show the delays are a bit long...about like the Estes delays are a bit short. The new Estes C5-3s are an exception to the pattern as they tend to be ~3.5s. On my Astrocam model - I found a long enough piece of white BT-50 (10.5 inches is what is needed) in TARC parts assortment from a few years ago. I will repair the model with that. Shock cord mount will be small tri-fold retaining a foot or so of Kevlar and then the model's supplied shock cord will be tied to that. This is how I do almost all my LPR/MPR builds these days. No kevlar burn through at 15-20 flights from tying it to the motor mount this way.

Here's a slightly trimmed version of the same video as before, with altitude and speed data (at least during the ascent) overlaid. Learning how to use new tools.
I'd rather have done this with Dashware, but it refused to render the video, despite trying all the things the support person could come up with Saturday afternoon. https://youtu.be/FrPsQCGpRIU My bent model has a new body tube and shock cord mount and is ready to fly some more.

That looked like a badly tangled chute ?
Was the rocket Mangled ?

Which flight are you referring to? In the video I've posted (twice)—no. In the first, third and fourth flights the 'chute, the line that goes to the nose cone tip and the little pouch the altimeter was in got tangled up enough that the camera wasn't looking down as intended during descent. On the fifth flight the nose cone was ejected properly but the 'chute got halfway out of the body—cause unknown but a wimpy ejection charge from a new C5-3 is the major suspect. The very top of the tube took a little damage from that landing. On the sixth flight a 'chute shroud line caught on the shock cord anchor. See post-flight forensic picture in post 33. In that case the tube rocket did in fact get mangled. It now has a new body tube and is ready to fly again (as noted two posts up from yours).

1992, in Bandit, Rampage, and Dagger. Those were slightly larger tubes. I don't remember many failures like that back then. Hard to believe those rockets are now 28 years old.
