Default Estes RTF 1/200 Space Shuttle advertisement arrives!

Estes has begun advertising the RTF 1/200 Space Shuttle. Image of the ad is attached.
The ad appeared in Hobby Merchandiser, an industry magazine. Estes advertises in it every month. More info will appear in the 2024 Estes catalog.
No delivery date or pricing has been announced. Assume Estes will make their own announcement on social media and by email when closer to the availability date.

For those of you who wanted a rerelease of the #1284 Space Shuttle, I heard many years ago that the tooling for that is long gone. Estes made that kit from 1976 to 1998 (or 1999). 23 years is a long time for the tooling for vacuform parts to survive.

I wonder how much it weighs. The Saturn V is marginal on a C6, though it's OK on a C5. I can't imagine this would be lighter at the same scale....so Q-Jet C12-4s would be the real recommended motor I think...

That was back when he who won't be named owned the company. I remember hearing that he cleaned house tossing all kinds molds/tooling.

If the main tank is BT-60, then probably close to Dr. Zooch “Ant Scale”!

I would really like to see a 1/100 Space Shuttle and a 1/100 SLS Artemis to go with the Saturn models.

I was told - in so many words - by an ex-Estes employee (I won't name names, but he's well known in rocketry circles) that Boeing scrapped all of their unused tooling back in the early 2000's.
One of the worse cases of 'penny wise - pound foolish' I've ever heard of.

Amen! 1:200 is a huge disappointment.

Me too! And there are other vendors doing 1:100 so more models are available to do a variety of “same-scale” builds.

Ughhhhhh.
A 1/100 KIT would have been great and would buy several. Knew that was too good to be true.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !
