Default R/C F-14 Tomcat Rocket glider

I designed an F-14 that I could kit easily and would have a nice boost and glide for a sport model. It's 1/24's scale, 31" long, 19" wingspan, 10 oz ready to fly with an E-6 24mm motor in it. I looked at the tradeoff between swing wing and not, and simple and light was the clear winner. Putting in any sort of mechansim would have made the model weaker and heavier, and reduced boost height and add only a few seconds more of glide. To those that feel it must swing the wing to be an F-14 send me your address and I'll send you a bag of steaming rubber dog crap direct from a cargo plane out of Hong Kong

I did this one in low viz Tomcatter markings VF-31. It's my lightest kit yet. The F-14 has a very swoopy nose shape that goes to perfectly flat inbetween the engine nacelles, I can't do that with a simple tube construction so I did the best I could with the nose cone and tube I have and made the cockpit as good as I could. Adding the panel lines really makes it pop along with the tail art, and the profile when gliding looks pretty good. About 50% of the rear stabilizers move as elevons, and they are very effective even though small.

I watched your videos of that one a few days ago.
Seems to have really good glide performance.

I'm ordering the Motion R/C 1/11 scale RC one later this week.

Rubber dawg crap outta Hong Kong. I like that.

I had done a version previously that was larger, but the CG location was too far forward in that size and it required a lot of nose weight and it boosted really slow, although glide was good, one of my customers asked if I could kit it, and I said I wanted to try a smaller version with 2.6" tubing and it worked out almost perfectly, 5-6 grams nose weight was all that was needed and mine is just under 10 oz rtf so although the swept format gives a small wing area it's so light it doesn't matter.

My friend flies the F-14 you are getting, he's very happy with it.

I have the Motion R/C 90mm Ultra-Performance F-4 as well.
That's my favorite.

Saw your larger F-14 also.
I agree that your smaller one performs really well.
Have you tried flying any of your RC RG's on the long-burning Estes F15's ?

I haven't used the F-15, it is way too heavy for my smaller sized models, the CG shift would be too great to trim as well. For my larger models that can handle the weight for only an ounce more I'd rather use the G-12 reload as I get about 40% more total impulse.
