It is funny you post this: I was just counting and reviewing the shingle patterns on some Mercury capsule photos the other day and doing some quick math and layouts on just how hard it would be to make a full-scale Mercury capsule. I don't have anywhere to store one, but a full-size would not be hard to make at all. But...those shingles would be probably the biggest challenge.
Do you have any kind of scale for the pdf's you posted? Earl

Eastwood Co, the car restoration supply folks, have decent “hobbyist” grade tools - one of their bead rollers and the right die set would be one way to do the pattern on the shingles and curve them but it certainly would take cubic yards of time! Probably better off making a stamp style die and doing the pattern with it and a sandbag... |

Earl, Unfortunately, I don't have any dimensioned info . . . They were, originally, intended for a "1/4 Scale" Mercury Capsule. http://www.spacecraftreplicas.com/paper/shingles http://www.spacecraftreplicas.com/paper Dave F. |
