The ANTAR page is up on the Estes website on the Coming Soon page

Water slide decals and a very long looking nose cone.

I'll be doing a full build on my blog when the model is released for sale.

The masking is not easy, but do-able.
The long nose cone is the same one as in the Hi-Flier XL.

Looking forward to the build! The ANTAR is a great looking rocket.

The Estes -60RL cone is one of my favorites - I have an extra Hi-Flier XL kit on hand in case I ever need to build another Vagabond which is my all-time favorite 3/4FNC design. The H-F XL looks odd to me because of the oversized fins but it really does fly high with an Aerotech G motor!

That would look nice with a BT-80 version and F engines.....
Attached is the an original picture of the cover of Secrest of SpaceFlight 1956.

the inside cover blurb states:

"Spaceship on cover is realistic model of the future, made by rocket expert G. Harry Stine, and photographed on White Sands desert by Stine and Ed Thomas."

If you look closely on the left hand side is the Launch pad from his Book Rocket Man( and the wing tip of his FAFNIR) and the vehicles and such are miniature models.

EDIT Added pic of FAFNIR

AC Supply now has the ANTAR listed as “Coming Soon”, priced at $23.99. https://www.acsupplyco.com/estes-mo...odel-rocket-kit

The upcoming Designer Series Antar has evidently had the list price reduced to 29.99.

40 off would be 17.99

If that price holds true, I see two of them in my next A.C. Supply order.

Scott,

Have you seen the Hi-Flier XXL and the Hi-Flier XXL - 3x29mm Cluster rocket kits that Toby at vander-burn.com sells?

Good to see there’s another Vagabond fan! My Vagabond was one of my first builds as a BAR that I was really proud of and it’s a great flyer.

Yeah, the H-F XL is a bit awkward looking though it’s another good performer. Toby’s stuff looks really nice (why anyone pays top dollar for a NOS Leviathan or MDRM is beyond me) and I’m thinking I need one of his upsized Cherokees more so than an H-F XXL.

I think my unbuilt H-F XL is going to end up as an upsized Estes #1924 Defender...

Hmmmmm.... Hi-Flier XL on a G? That’s a crazy fun-sounding idea. I may have to pick one up next time I’m near Hobby Lobby.

I also love the Vagabond, and have one ready for sealer on the fins right now. I squirreled some away when they were being closed out, so still have three in the stash. Actually, my spreadsheet says I have a Hi-Flier XL in the stash as well. That’s even better than going to HL to buy one....

And I do have the Antar on the to-busy list as soon as AC Supply gets it in. I’ve enough motors on my “order” list to make a proper free shipping order when that happens.
