Original Centuri Taurus Body Tube Size
Help! I’m trying to determine the size of the middle tube on the original Centuri Taurus kit. That tube on my built bird from the 1980’s has a crimp in it and I want to replace it. Looking for the size of it; would really appreciate a lead on where I could buy a replacement tube.

You talking about the narrow tube? I can get a length on any of the tubes for you.

If it is that narrow tube (in the middle as you say), it is a Centuri size #8 tube and is 5.75" long.
You can get a replacement at eRockets. They sell Semroc tubes, which are equivalents to the old Centuri tubing. Go here: http://www.erockets.biz/semroc-body-tube-8-18-0-long/ That will take you to a length that is 18" long, which you can cut down. They have one listed at 5.7", but that, technically, would be a tad too short. Earl

Aw, sweet! Yes, the skinny middle tube, that’s it! Interestingly, my original tube measured 6.25”; wonder what was up with that? At any rate, thanks so much for the reference. This info will get across the finish line!

Excuse me... that measurement should read 6 1/8 inches.

The Taurus and some other Centuri kits changed over time. In the case of the Taurus, it's obvious that it had two different nose cone shapes for the pods. It's possible that your kit had a different length tube because that's what was available at the time it was packaged. I don't know if your BT length, or Earl's was more common.

Ok, went back and pulled out an unopened first issue Taurus (with the earlier face card design and the pointy PNC-54 pod cones that tbzep referenced) and it also has a 5.75" ST-8 mid-body tube. Earl

Probably just an anomaly, just quality control issue for whoever was cutting tubes that day.
