Default ABC news is Stupid!

ABC news is Stupid!

Tonight they reported that a pipeline from Texas to New Jersey was 5,500 miles long!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

It's just over 1300 miles from Texas to NJ.

Idiots!

Well I wouldn’t have too high of expectations about anyone when it comes to geography - having a degree in “Communications” or “Journalism” doesn’t mean you actually know anything practical like mathematics or are capable of rational logical thinking.

Oh and since I usually end up being “that guy”, from furthest point northeast in NJ to the furthest point southwest in TX it’s a bit over 2100 miles or 3450 km - admittedly neither is close to 5000 anything though it is 18268 stadium...

A pipeline network stretching from NJ to Texas could easily contain more than 5,500 miles of pipe.

I saw a graphic tonight that showed at least two parallel pipelines as well as spurs off the lines to other locals. It is not a straight line either. As mentioned above, they are counting the total miles of lines and not the "as the crow flies" distance.

That makes a lot more sense.

My local news showed the pipeline map.
No way it's 5,500 miles long!

Here's their website. https://www.colpipe.com/

Says so right there.

Here's their map: https://www.colpipe.com/about-us/our-company/system-map

It's useful to be skeptical of the media, but silly to reflexively discount them.

The 5,500 of pipe is in 14 states!

The pipeline is just over 1300 miles long!

It covers only 9 states.

Again,

Idiots!

I saw the news report. They were saying the company owns 5000 miles of pipeline. Not just that single run.
