Default Need Advice for Upscale Groove Tube

I finally flew my Centuri Groove Tube from 1970-something. What a great launch! I did a search for upscale Groove Tubes and found some high powered upscales but I didn't want something that challenging. Excelsior has decals but I wasn't sure how big the actual rocket would be.

I'd probably want to make something a bit bigger that would take a D engine but I'm not sure about the parts to get get. Any suggestions?

The one I just finished building (ready for paint now) is BT-60 and is a kit bashed Mean Machine. You end up with just a little tubing left over (you can get three tube fins from one 18" length). I put a 3.75" 24mm motor mount in it so i can fly it on E9s and, using a spacer, 24mm AT reloads. I have a build thread over on TRF.

BT-56 tube and nose cone. I believe they're an original Centuri part and readily available from placed like Hobbylinc. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/est/est303164.htm Centering rings and internals would just be standard rings that fit the BT-55. Semroc should be able to help you with the BT-56 tubes and motor mount parts. Give a thought to going with an E motor. You can always use an adapter for C and D flights.
DON'T FORGET THE NOSE WEIGHT!!!!

That was a cool rocket, and Greg's build got me thinking about doing another one, possibly on a BT-70 scale. Lots of other irons in lots of other fires at the moment, but someday this winter.

I wrote two articles for our club newsletter last year on cloning and upscaling the Groove Tube.

That's what I'm looking for! I love the upscale PDF! I'll have to take a look to see what parts I have to get and get the decals from Excelsior.

The original was impressive on a B6-4. A D or E engine would be an AWESOME launch!
