Thanks GH.

In the last 4 weeks, I've nearly completed painting of the airframe. I used normal Rustoleum spray, and wait at least double the 48 hours between coats. Masking was less than perfect, so a little bleeding occurred that'll need to be cleaned up somehow. The only remaining painting is a little silver brushwork on the fins based on ROTW drawings.

Last weekend I applied decals. I had applied a layer of Liquid Decal Film over the originals, but when I soaked the wrap in warm water, it still cracked in many, many pieces. So, went to Kurt's Decal Page, and printed them out on Expert's Choice Inkjet paper . The fonts are a little different, but close enough for me. Coated with 3 light coats of Krylon UV Crystal Clear, and they went on just fine. Shout out to Kurt for drawing those. It still needs a little touch-up, and an overall clear coat.

I was hoping to fly today at our club launch to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Shepard's flight, but high predicted winds scrubbed.

That’s a nice finish on the red of the LES scaffold and motor. Looks like candy!

I finally launched the Redstone, today, on a B6-4, off my original Porta-Pad from the early 70s. Great flight straight up, both vintage chutes popped wide open at apogee, and landed in tall weeds. Model is as good as new, except for a little BP soot on the exhaust vanes. Happy belated 60th anniversary, Freedom 7!
