Wow! Away from the Forum for a while and come back to this news.

Sheryl, Arthur and I are praying for Bruce's recovery and strength for you. You and he were so nice to us when we came to visit you in Knightdale back in September after we had come up there to see Iron Maiden and Megadeth (my son's favs) at Walnut Creek the day before. You showed us around the operation and were perfect hosts. It was a wonderful time! Frankly, I hated to leave!
Jim Flis has got to be some sort of Angel.
What a community we have!
I wish we lived closer so I might be of some help.

Thank-you for keeping us posted. It sounds like Bruce is on the right track now.

Subsequent to my last message I have received a white box in the mail filled with all manner of goodies. I swear it can be Christmas any day of the year. Very glad to hear that Bruce is off the ECMO, never a good device to be on. Continued thoughts and prayers to you all.

John

Sounds like things are really looking up. Great news!

Sometimes it's hard to remember that when you're "walking through the valley of the shadow."

Some of us may not say much, but we're certainly sending prayers and positive thoughts "up and out" on your behalf.

Thoughts and prayers,

P.S. A young man came into the ICU yesterday and put on the ECMO machine for the flu. His wife said he has developed blood clots in his brain and they are not giving him a good prognosis. That is part of the 50-50 chance given when put on this machine.

Reading about the new patient, I can imagine what the mortality rate would be if this were happening in a Third World country without ready access to modern medical technology (50-50, while not great, is certainly far preferable to virtually zero). That is great news about Bruce!

Default Bruce

Sorry I have not sent an up date recently. Trying to catch up on things around here plus trips to the hospital. Bruce is doing much better, as a matter of fact, they were going to release him to rehab Wednesday but he was throwing up and it has continued. They are keeping him today for an ultra sound. They think it is his pancreas. He has the trac tube out, still on dialysis but his kidneys are working better and he is walking more.

Thank you everyone for your continued support and prayers.

Sheryl

Overall, that's good news! Sometimes you take 2 steps forward and 1 step back, but that is progress. I know he's got a long way to go but he has come a long way from where he was.

Tell Bruce eveyone here is pulling/praying for him and looking forward to him being himself again.

Hmmm, rehab!

Maybe you can convince the hospital that the patients there could benefit from some occupational therapy, turning out nose cones. Is Semroc's lathe portable?

But seriously, it sounds like things are coming together.

Pancreatitis is extremely painful.

I'm so glad he is doing better.

Thoughts and prayers...
