Yesterday in Van Alstyne, Texas
As my son came home for a visit yesterday about 2:30 PM he noticed a plume of heavy black smoke west of our home. So we hopped in his truck and took a ride on Kepler Road, which forms the northern border of my property. After about a 3/4 mile trip we found the source...a house fire that was furiously burning near what looked like it might have been in the attached garage at the rear of the house. Crowds of neighbors as well as Van Alstyne police were on scene and fire trucks were en route so we returned home.
Later that evening I received a phone call from a friend who lives in town who gave me some additional information which, unfortunately, proved to be true: http://www.fox4news.com/news/43023760-story It doesn't get much worse than this. |

That's absolutely terrible.
Innocent children murdered by one of the two people they should always be able to count on. What a sick POS excuse for a human being.

Living in (or in my case near) a small farming town, you tend to adopt a mindset that this sort of thing only happens in big urban areas. This senseless event has come as a shock to everyone in this community, and that includes me.
When my son was in elementary school 25+ years ago, he had two playmates who were brothers and lived right next door to the house where this horrific act took place. Their parents divorced and the family moved elsewhere. I don't know who lives there now, nor do I know the family involved in this tragedy. Pray for the mother and grandparents of these two beautiful children. |
