Fin dimensions or a template for the Estes SkyBolt
After years of inactivity, I am getting back into rocketry.... we, perhaps inactivity isn't the right phrase, I did do 21 years in the Navy! Anyway, can anyone help me find the fin dimensions for the old Estes SkyBolt? Also, what thickness was the balsa? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and keep 'em flyin'!

You can find the plans, fin pattern, and decals here: http://www.oldrocketplans.com/estes/est1334/est1334.htm Fin thickness is 3/32". You can get get a laser cut set of fins from Semroc. They also have the nose cone. Chances are Sandman has the decals (if not, he can most likely cook you up a set). His site is: Excelsior Rocketry BTW, Welcome to YORF.

Thanks Dave, for both the info and the welcome aboard! Building and flying rockets was a big part of my routine from the late 60's right up until I joined the Navy, anxious to get back into it!

Welcome to the group 76gunner from a fellow military retiree. I think that you will find a very eclectic group here with a lot of knowledge and experience. After all, it is rocket science. I second SEMROC for parts for clones and projects. If you do not see something on their website, contact them. You never know what Carl has already developed, but hasn't put on the website. Keep in mind that we like pictures of projects in-work and finished.
